Diver Files

The Cambridge Diving Development Team is pleased to announce the launch of its new and improved Diver Files. These files are an essential part of any aspiring Olympic champions armoury and are the key to a successful training programme.

The Diver Files are a group of documents that have been specially designed to aid and assist a diver's training programme. Although the basic outline of the documents will be the same for each diver, the content included within these documents will be personal and specific for each individual. The new squad progressions and conditions have been set and will be followed. These are available here so that each diver can see what squad they are in, why they are there, as well as what they have to do to remain in that squad or move up into the higher squads.

Contained within the Diver Files are numerous training sheets such as those used for conditioning, flexibility, warm ups and cool downs. Regular testing procedures will be implemented and therefore records of test scores will be included within the files.

Printing Out your Diver File

You need to purchase a plastic wallet bonded folder with at least 40 sleeves. The documents must be printed out in order and placed into your plastic wallet with one sheet per sleeve. The folder should then be brought to every training session so that it can be easily referred to during training. The Diver Files will continually be updated with relevant sheets progressing alongside the divers improved performance. It is part of the Cambridge Diving Development Teams philosophy to educate its divers in conjunction with assisting them to reach their full performance potential.

Diver Files are a necessity!

If you have any queries or questions regarding the Diver Files please do not hesitate to ask the team. We will do our best to keep you informed of any updates made as well as ensuring regular checks on individual files.

Diver Files Documents

All documents in this section are PDF files unless otherwise indicated.

Goal Setting Sheets

One of the most important documents within the Diver Files is the goal setting and target sheet. This is vital for any progress to be made and for a diver to reach their full potential. These will be completed in agreement with the divers lead coach during a goal setting meeting where both long and short term training and competition goals will be set. It is important to have a dream goal, by planning short term goals that lead to long term goals being achieved the diver has a greater chance of eventually achieving their ultimate goal.

Testing Records

These documents are exactly what the title tells you! A regular testing procedure will be implemented to assess the divers strength and power, static and dynamic flexibility, and skill performance. This will enable both diver and coach to monitor improvements in flexibility & strength, help set specific individual goals and targets, as well as providing motivation and relevance to the conditioning programmes that are set.

Conditioning Sheets

Documents contained here are related to conditioning and enhancement of divers' physical abilities. Conditioning is a crucial part of any sport but especially those relying on explosive power and body/limb control and coordination. Diving requires a mixture of both and conditioning should be performed on a regular basis for benefits to occur and performance to improve. The type and amount of conditioning will vary throughout the year so it is important that divers keep a record of what exercises they have done and what exercises are being performed at present. Conditioning is hard work but remember, you get out what you put in!

Flexibility Sheets

This section is for general flexibility with regards to training practises, routines, and exercises. In order to become a successful diver you must have excellent flexibility; therefore a thorough understanding of your warm up & cooldown routines will enable you to improve and maintain your flexibility for life!

Reference Documentation

The documents in this section have been moved into the Documents section. These documents are not an intrinsic part of the Diver Files, but are provided for reference only.
