James Etherington

Ex Head Coach for the Cambridge Diving Development Centre

In 2003 James joined the Cambridge Diving Development Centre as its first professional Head Coach. Over four & a half years James developed the Centre in size and structure; expanding both The Learn to Dive Programme and the Cambridge Dive Team Competitive Programme. He achieved success nationally and internationally at all levels of the sport. Throughout his time with the centre the Dive Team won medals at National Elite, Age Group and Skills (Novice) championships with five divers being selected for the Junior Talent Programme and one diver being selected for the Junior Olympic Squad. The Cambridge Dive Team is now one of the most (if not the most) successful 5 metre training programs in the UK and is regularly competing with the top four clubs in the country for medal success at all levels of competition.

In James' final year, the Cambridge Team were proud winners in two categories at the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Sports Awards. James was the winner of the Sports Coach of the Year and the Club was the winner in the Sports Club of the Year category.
