Welcome to Cambridge Learn To Dive!

For children up to 14 years old

We run half-hourly sessions at Parkside Pools on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at the following times:

• Tuesdays - 6.00pm and 6.30pm
• Fridays - 6pm, 6.30pm, 7pm and 7.30pm
• Saturdays - 10.05am, 10.35am, 11.05am and 11.35am

Lessons are based around the ASA Frosties Awards Scheme where divers work towards badges. Within each session there are three levels through which divers progress as they gain badges. Below is a brief outline of the Badge Scheme and how it corresponds to our Learn to Dive grouping system.

• Level 1a - Divers in this group will be working to achieve grade 2/1 and grade 2/2.
• Level 1b (older beginners) and Level 2 - Divers in this group will be working to achieve grade 2/3, grade 2/4 and stage 3/1.
• Level 3 - Divers in this group will be working to achieve grade 2/5, stage 3/2 and stage 3/3.

Once a diver has successfully completed each grade/stage, meeting the required standard, they will then be considered for a level change (subject to the Head Coaches' discretion). Our aim is to progress divers through the badge scheme as quickly as possible without compromising on safety or satisfactory technique. Upon completing all aspects of Level 3 the diver will then be asked to become a full member of the Dive Centre and join our Entry level training squad.

There is a strong element of fun whilst divers learn the basic skills off the poolside. There is also the opportunity to use all the diving boards within each lesson. Diving is a great way for children to improve balance, coordination and confidence in a fun, relaxed and friendly environment.

All our coaches are fully trained and dedicated to helping every child reach their potential. All that we require is that children can swim two lengths and are confident in deep water.

You are never too old to start!

These are fun, relaxed sessions run on Monday and Thursday nights at 8.30-9.30pm. You will have the opportunity to try out the different boards, learn new skills, improve you diving with our qualified coaches and meet friendly new people!

We operate a 'ticket' system for the Adult Learn To Dive. You can buy books of 5 for £25 or 10 for £45. Individual sessions cost £6. Why not come and give it a go?!

Information for current divers and parents

For up-to-date information and news of forthcoming camps please see our Learn To Dive noticeboard situated on the left-hand side of the changing room entrance. There you can monitor your child's progress, results of badge assessments and group level.

We have recently introduced set testing dates which will be advertised on the noticeboard so please check it regularly. Please try to ensure your child attends these sessions as they enable us to monitor improvement and rearrange groups according to ability.

Please note: badges and certificates can no longer be purchased from reception. On assessment days badges and certificates will be sold in the balcony by one of the dive team and will cost £2.10.

Learn To Dive T-shirts are now available for the bargain price of £5! They are available in the following sizes: 5-6 yrs, 7-8 yrs, 9-11 yrs and 12-13 yrs.
