Will Ing has left!
After a successful year as our part-time Assistant DDO Will Ing has left to go and teach swimming in Dubai and then to go travelling.
It's been great having Will as part of the team - his happy personality and has been appreciated by all. His diving teaching has improved enormously during the year - with a lot of hard work by him that has benefited the Club and the Learn to Dive Programme. Will's appointment has been supported by grants from Cambridge City Development and Leisure and the ASA to provide an Outreach Community Programme and a Schools Link Programme. He achieved both these objectives and many children and adults have tried diving for the first time (and carried on!).
Will assures me [Sharyn] that although the pools are shallow water in Dubai he will be initiating his swimming pupils into the rudiments of diving - you never know he might get a diving facility built!
For those of you who are already missing him - don't worry - he will be back for six weeks in the summer.
At his leaving night we presented him with a very stylish cap, two pairs
of boarders' shorts (necessary attire for swimming and diving teachers) and
a shirt. There, of course, was a ceremonial 'throw in' - which I think Will
enjoyed - see the pictures.
