Part A

The Cambridgeshire ASA Novice A Diving Championships was held at Parkside Pools with two Olympians as guest of honour: Paul Hall, Head Coach at Huntingdon Olympic Gymnastics Club and coach at the Beijing Olympics, and Marrissa King, Gymnast at the Huntingdon club and placed 5th at Beijing were invited to present the medals and trophy to the County's up and coming divers.

Star of the show was Rosy-May Trewin Marshall from the Cambridge Dive Team winning the event with 80.75 points, less than one point outside the county record and ahead of 19 other competitors. She was lying in joint second place with team-mate Matthew Goodfellow, just behind Dominic Sutton (also from the Cambridge Dive team), after the first round but pulled out all the stops in the second round with a magnificent inward dive scoring 7s and 8s from the judges. Despite the efforts of Dominic in the final round with a dive scoring 8s and 8.5s, Rosy-May held onto a well-deserved victory with Dominic in silver medal spot with 79.50 and fast improving Emily Douillot Redfern taking the bronze medal with 71.80 points. Matthew Goodfellow took 4th place followed by Jasmin Glen in 5th and Sarah Arthur in 6th.

The championship and medal presentation was followed by a breath-taking diving display choreographed by Adele Cliff and performed by the elite divers of the Cambridge Dive Team.

Part B

11 year-old Matthew Goodfellow from the Cambridge Dive Team stormed to victory in the second part of the Cambridgeshire ASA Novice Diving Championships. This part of the championships features back and reverse movements from the poolside, 1 and 3 metre springboards. Team-mate Dominic Sutton led the field at the completion of the first round but Matthew bounced back with an excellent back dive and then just staved off Dominic's challenge in the final round to score a magnificent 71.90 points, just 0.80 points ahead of Dominic.

There was a battle for the bronze medal and minor placings with fast improving Sarah Arthur claiming the bronze from newcomer Lara Rudin. Rosy-May Trewin Marshall, winner of last week's part A Championship that featured forward and inward dives, was pushed into 5th place just ahead of Harriet Walker who took the 6th place medal.

All the medallists dive with the Cambridge Dive Team.
