Cambridge Dive Team attended the Armada cup national diving event in Plymouth with a team of four divers. Despite the small team, the divers made a significant impact on the competition scene.
The weekend started strong with Frankie Webb and her partner competing in the girls 14-18 three metre synchronised event. Following a tough start to the competition the pair performed some high scoring dives to secure a third place finish.
Day two saw increased competition with only the top six making it through to the afternoon's finals. Both Elora Graham and Frankie Webb finished seventh in their preliminary events, both narrowly missing out on the final. On day three Graham returned and put in a solid performance in the women's one metre preliminary event sneaking into the final in sixth place. In the afternoon she returned to the pool even more determined and increased her rank by three places after a very impressive set of dives to away a bronze medal. The momentum was continued in the final day of events with Frankie Webb qualifying for the girls 14-15 years platform final in sixth place. Team mate Olivia Blower qualified in third place for her women's platform event, well surpassing her previous personal best score. In the afternoon's finals Frankie held her place finishing sixth overall with Olivia being pushed down to fourth and out of the medals.
Overall it was a very positive weekend for the team as outlined by Head Coach Aaron Paul:
"It's always daunting for the divers when going to a big event like this with only a small team. This made it even more impressive to see our divers make their mark and walk away with some good results beating other much bigger teams."
