Swim England East Region Age Group Competition 2018
Cambridge Dive Team took eight divers to the East Region Age group diving championships in the hopes to qualify for this year's National Age group championships. Both days of the event saw some great diving from both Cambridge and other clubs in the region, with the home club taking home a grand total of nine medals.
In the group B 14-15yr competition, Cambridge was represented by Zara Wray and Frankie Webb. Both girls came to the competition with a strong dive list and Webb took home three medals in the group B 14-15yr category with golds on both the 3m and platform and a bronze on 1m. Diving really well in all three of her events, Frankie achieved some fantastic scores and a new PB.
Dominic Jaunzens, competing in the equivalent boys events, dived fantastically winning three medals in total with one gold, one silver and one bronze. Particularly in the platform event Dominic stormed ahead of the field with some brilliant dives to take the win for Cambridge.
Also returning with medals was Elora Graham with a silver and bronze in the group A 16+ event. Elora competed very well over the weekend with some very consistent scores throughout all three events.
The final medal came from Catherine Lopez in the girls group C 12-13yr event. She took the silver in a very tough category, pulling off some great dives at the end of the event to secure the second place. Other divers in this event from Cambridge include Malaika Graham and Isabella Given. Isabella dived very well in the 1m event to narrowly miss out on a medal by just under two points.
Albie Vaughan dived very consistently in the group C boys event to come fourth on all three boards, narrowly missing out on medals.
