National Age Groups 2018
Cambridge Dive Team took a squad of six hopeful divers to this year's national event taking place at Sheffield's Ponds Forge international pool.
Cambridge's star diver of the weekend was Frankie Webb, taking home two silver medals in both the Girls B 1m and 3m events. Frankie dived fantastically, achieving high scores and maintaining consistency throughout both events to secure herself the medal position. In both events she missed out on a gold medal by just five points alluding to the narrow and exciting competition. Frankie scored a new personal best on the three metre board by twenty points: a fantastic achievement and start to the weekend for both herself and the club.
Dominic Jaunzens also secured a new personal best in the Boys Group B platform event: a great start to his meet. Putting in some very nice dives Dominic only missed out on a medal by a few points, coming fourth in a very tough event. In both his 1m and 3m competitions, Dominic performed some well-rehearsed dives, seeing him take seventh and ninth respectively.
In the Girls Group C event, Cambridge Dive Team's Isabella Given and Malaika Graham put in good performances across all boards. Given placed thirteenth, twenty second and twenty third with Graham placing thirty third and thirty fourth in some very tough and long events.
Alice Ledzion and Zara Wray also dived alongside Webb in the Girls Group B category. Ledzion and Wray put in solid performances in their platform event nearly scoring personal bests, placing twelfth and twenty fifth respectively. Across the other boards Zara placed twenty first and twenty fifth while Alice placed twenty first and twenty eighth.
Cambridge Dive Team's coach Daniel Murphy said:
"This year's national event has seen the team put in some great performances, scoring new personal bests and competing new dives. Cambridge's close-knit team continues to show the diving community that we have the talent and dedication to get onto the podium and achieve some really good scores."
