Former Head Coach of Cambridge Dive Team, Lottie Thompson, has been awarded the prestigious Jeff Cook Salver award. This recognition is presented by Swim England East Region to a person, team or club that has made a significant contribution to aquatic sport within the region. This is an impressive achievement for Thompson given the strength of the different aquatic disciplines within the East Region.
Lottie, an experienced international diver, joined the Cambridge Dive Team in 2013 as a Diving Development Officer, becoming Head Coach in 2015. She then left the club in 2017 to pursue her career in Law but continued as a volunteer in the diving world, supporting the East Region in numerous ways. She is currently the Diving Manager of the East Diving Leadership Group, a member of the Regional Operations Committee, and a member of the Audit, Risk and Probity Committee. In addition, on the national stage she is the Diving Manager of the Swim England Diving Leadership Group.
Lottie was a key driving force within the diving community both during and post the pandemic, helping to design the ‘return to competition’ roadmap and planning the delivery of the Diving Level X dryland and pool series. Meanwhile she has ensured that diving courses and associated topics have been available to diving coaches in training, enabling their development into and within the sport. Through this work Lottie has kept the diving community on the front foot and informed of all relevant developments and this guidance and motivation have proved inspirational to many coaches, divers and club volunteers.
Lottie maintains her association with Cambridge Diving Development Centre as a club member and with constant interaction with the coaches and organisers to aid the development of diving locally and nationally. Our club are very proud that Lottie’s dedication and contributions have been recognised with this award.
